Amanya Ivan
Technology and Innovations Officer
Amanya Ivan is a result-driven professional serving as Technology and Innovation Officer at Empower Youth in Technology (EYIT) in Mbarara, southwestern Uganda. With over five years of experience, he specializes in networking, network infrastructure setup, systems administration, technical support, data and project management, and software development.
Amanya has successfully implemented several applications in Southwestern Uganda, including the Primary Education Performance Assessment System (PEPAS), AccountantApp, and LetsFarmApp. He oversees the development and research of innovative solutions, ensuring that they meet the needs of the community and contribute to sustainable growth.
Amanya possesses proficiency in the basics of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), with skills in processing digital geographical data, including vector and raster data. His expertise extends to applications such as map production, visualization of geographical data, geoprocessing models, and geospatial analysis, including GPS tracking and route analysis.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering (2nd Class Upper) from Mbarara University of Science & Technology and has completed his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). He also holds various certifications, including CISA, CISSP, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and ITIL from Cybrary.
Before joining EYIT, he worked as a Systems Administrator & Network Security at Kampala International School and as a Field Support Engineer at Innovation Streams Limited in Mbarara.
With a strong foundation in software development, network administration, technical support, and organizational skills, Amanya Ivan is dedicated to leveraging technology to drive innovation and empower youth in Uganda.
