Digital Innovation Internship Program (DIIP)
The purpose of the program is to empower and train future technology leaders in Uganda and beyond, EYIT developed hands program designed to equip University students with an in-depth understanding of technology and how they can use it to become efficient problem solvers
Over the course of 8 weeks, the selected students will undergo in-depth training in the areas of software development and entrepreneurship skills in order to produce viable prototypes for the selected community challenges. The focus of this years program is to help you learn how to generate a tech business idea, develop a prototype, and pitching.
This year, the program will involve both local and international instructors to facilitate a blended learning experience.
The approach will include;
Collaborative Learning: Through group projects, discussions, public speaking, and events;
Practical Learning: Through one on one mentorships, hands-on application, and field experiences.
Instruction-based learning: Facilitator-led sessions in a classroom setting

Program Objective
To equip participants with practical skills in digital media production, content creation, AI integration, UI/UX design, and web/app development to prepare them for the digital economy.
Module 1: Orientation & Digital Entrepreneurship Workshop
This module introduces participants to the structure of the digital economy, exploring how the internet and digital tools have transformed work, business, and content creation. Learners will explore various entrepreneurial opportunities in the digital space and evaluate the skills needed to start and grow media and digital based businesses.
Module 2: Digital Content Creation
Participants will learn the principles of content strategy, planning, and storytelling across platforms. They will understand audience engagement, trends in content consumption, and how to create compelling content tailored for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and blogs.
Module 3: Camera Use & Photography
This module teaches camera fundamentals including composition, lighting, and focus. Participants will engage in practical photography sessions and learn to edit and enhance images for use in digital campaigns.
Module 4: Video Production & Editing
This practical module focuses on mastering video production tools and techniques. Participants will learn how to record a footage, capture sound, and edit content professionally using software like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Filmora
Module 5: Graphic Design & Visual Communication
Students will be introduced to graphic design concepts including layout, color theory, typography, and branding. They will practice creating flyers, posters, and social media graphics using Canva and Adobe Illustrator.
Module 6: Live Streaming & Virtual Broadcasting
Trainees will gain hands-on skills in setting up and running livestreams using OBS Studio and VMix. They will learn to create lower thirds, transitions, switch between sources, and broadcast events on multiple platforms simultaneously.
Module 7: Human-Centered Design (Design Thinking)
Participants will learn the fundamentals of design thinking, including problem identification, empathy mapping, ideation, prototyping, and user testing. The module equips learners to design tech solutions that are tailored to real human needs.
Module 8: Artificial Intelligence for Media and Innovation
This module covers the basics of AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, with an emphasis on media applications. Students will explore AI tools like Runway ML, Canva AI, Pictory, and ChatGPT to automate tasks like video generation, captioning, and image design. It also introduces no-code tools (Teachable Machine, Lobe.ai) and Python platforms (Google Colab) for building beginner-level AI models. Ethical implications and responsible AI use will also be discussed.
Module 9: Content Management Systems (CMS)
This module provides foundational skills in setting up and customizing websites using WordPress. Students will learn to install themes, use plugins, and optimize content for search engines (SEO). It includes practical website setup projects.
Module 10: UI/UX Design with Figma
Participants will be introduced to Figma, a collaborative design tool used to create interactive wireframes and prototypes. They will learn mobile-first design principles, UI layout best practices, and how to collaborate with developers.
Module 11: Software development with Laravel and Flutter
This advanced module teaches students how to build complete web systems using the Laravel PHP framework. Topics include backend logic, MVC architecture, database integration, and deployment. Integration with WordPress for hybrid sites will also be covered.
Final Module: Hosting with AWS, Pitching, Demos & Graduation
In the final module, participants present their digital products or systems developed during the program. They will receive feedback from peers and facilitators and participate in a graduation ceremony where certificates are awarded.
EYIT also hosts special events during the program. These include networking events, guest speakers, and end-of-the-program picnics.

- General Conduct
- a) All participants must maintain professionalism and respect towards trainers, fellow participants, and EYIT staff.
- b) Discrimination, harassment, or any form of misconduct will not be tolerated.
- c) Participants are required to adhere to these rules and guidelines
- Payment & Enrollment
- a) Participants must pay 50% of the training fee at least one month before the start of the program to confirm their slot.
- b) No participant will be allowed to start the program without paying this 50% deposit.
- c) The remaining balance must be cleared within one month after the program starts.
- Attendance & Punctuality
- a) Training sessions run from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (morning session) and 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (afternoon session).
- b) Daily attendance is mandatory, and participants must sign in the attendance book daily.
- c) Missing two consecutive days without permission from EYIT CEO may result in disciplinary action, including not signing your logbook.
- d) Any participant who misses a full week without permission from EYIT CEO will be reported to their university supervisor in case one is a student. A non-student will be discontinued from the program.
- e) Participants who are consistently late for a full week will not have their logbooks signed and may be reported to their supervisor.
- Learning & Participation
- a) Active participation in discussions, practicals, and assignments is expected.
- b) Participants must complete assigned tasks and projects on time. c) Engaging with trainers, asking questions, and seeking clarification is highly encouraged.
- d) A student who does all the above stands a chance to score 100% at the end of the training.
- Certification & Internship Project
- a) To qualify for a certificate, participants must attend at least 70% of the training.
- b) Every participant must complete an end-of-internship/training project as part of the program requirement.
- Use of Equipment & Facilities
- a) EYIT resources (cameras, computers, software, internet, etc.) must be used responsibly.
- b) Any damage to EYIT property due to negligence will require reimbursement.
- c) Every participant must carry their laptop.
- Dress Code
- a) Participants should dress appropriately, maintaining a professional or casual-smart appearance.
- b) No participant will be allowed to attend the training sessions in open shoes (this applies to male participants).
- c) Any male participant who wishes to attend training sessions in open shoes must seek approval from EYIT CEO.
- Disciplinary Actions
- a) Violations of these guidelines may result in warnings, suspension, or expulsion, depending on the severity of the misconduct.
- b) EYIT reserves the right to take necessary action to ensure a conducive learning environment for all participants.
- Contact & Communication
- a) Participants must provide up-to-date personal contact information, supervisor, guardian, or next of kin for smooth communication and emergency cases.
- b) Official program updates will be shared via emails, WhatsApp groups, or direct phone contacts.
- Use of photos and videos on our website and social media a) During training sessions, EYIT will capture photos and record videos to document and promote ongoing and future programs.
- b) EYIT reserves the right to use participants’ photos and videos for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, program reports, and the official website.
- c) By participating in EYIT training programs, attendees grant permission for their images and recordings to be used in EYIT’s promotional materials.
